Just read Andy Warhols biography. Obviously, this is a photo of his protege Edie Sedgwick. I decided to be Andy Warhol this halloween. It's pretty easy actually, I just need a striped shirt, a camera, white wig and a blazer. Can't wait for Halloween!
I found a great foto of Elvis and decided to super impose this comedic Hitler replica I found on the interweb. We have been trying to play with elvis for sooooo long, finally we will be on stage with the great Elv!s.
Just read some books on Basquiat and David Hockney- This is my attemp to make a flyer in that style. I drew that zombie on a table while just doodling; fortunately, I took a photograph before it was erased. I think it needs a little more dirtiness but then again I am never quite satisfied with anything I do. This poster was printed by Bearded Lady-I think Richard still has tons of copy. Let me know if you want one.
I got this image at Vintage Printable. The images in this archive are public domain which is pretty cool and some of them are actually in good resolution. Definitely love that vitage scholar look.
We do not have a show for a while but we're still writing new songs and trying to be creative. Hope we can make a video this year too. I guess I just need to buy a moving camera.
I did not really have the time to make a decent flyer so I just recycled our default imagery on our website. Turned out alright but has nothing to do with being super secret. This show should be fun. Our first time playing with the Tunnels.
Our new flyer- I got this image from Time.com. They have awesome photos of current events. This is a photo of an Iranian protestor during the questionable ligitimacy of their prime ministers election. Viva le Revolution
This is probably our first show at the Beauty Bar in Austin and possibly our first show with our dear friends, Candi and the Cavities. Those wooden ducks came from a photo I took while I was visiting San Francisco- we just got out of The Elbow Room off Valencia Street I think.
One of our first show in Beerland. I scanned the doll I bought from a thrift store. I did not have a digital camera back then. This flyer was forever ago.
Our second movement- the time Alyse and BJ joined the group. We were pretty prolific in the begining. I guess we're running out of steam.
We love playing the Carousel Lounge. It's close to where we all live and you can bring liquor there. Obviously it got pretty sloppy at the end of the night. Fun times though.
We played on a small makeshift stage outside Emo's for this show. Finally Punk could not make the show and Cry Blood Apache played on their behalf. It was a really fun show, just a few days before the music portion of SXSW 2009. It was sponsored by Gigatron- some internet startup I suppose. That's Lydia Lunch on the flyer of Teenage Jesus and the Jerks.
When you play the music we play it is often hard to find show for us. We did not really belong to one single scene nor did we ever wanted to. This illustration is probably one of my favorite drawings I've made- just a few lines
This is around when the garage and hardcore scene united. We played more and more with hardcore bands and them with us. It's around the time when Timmy put our second album on record - but obviously, we do not at all consider ourselves a garage band.
A more right brain line up. Our friend Singer who also plays for Red Leaves set this show up. The hole in the wall is a great change from playing the downtown establishment; new crowd and a lot closer to home.
Another show at Hole in the Wall. This time with our friends the Ape-Shits and Candi and the gang. It's our first time playing the big stage in the back of the club. Surprisingly, the sound was pretty good- we really should play there more often.
There was a time when I was using a lot of photographs by Helmut Newton, the famous fashion photgrapher. It was really easy making his photographs to flyers.
Another image from Mr. Newton. I was really excited to play this show with one of my favorite band at the time- the Tyrades. I do not think Eastside Suicides could play the show and the Dirty Sweets played the show instead.
